Inuhanyou:
Yeah, I was told that a lot of the filler actually lead to some pretty decent character development in the original, plus building tension necessary for epic manly battles.

I am looking forward to Vegeta and Nappa coming since they're who I'm most familiar with, lol.

Considering how much I'm enjoying Kai I'm actually really debating going back and watching the original Dragonball/Dragonball Z. Knowing what I know now, I would probably like it.. plus I can always skip filler. :p

How can you not like an anime that runs for 297 episodes? It's epic!! Sure the filler drags things out and you're like "c'mon man get back to the story", but seriously, it's awesome.

So many of the long-running anime series have filler, but they have lasting memories with me for a lifetime <3

Lmao welcome to the club...its been atleast 10 years for us oldfags used to the series itself....tbh a lot of the filler is unnecessary such as the screaming and whatnot, and random cuts to nature during fights for 5 minutes (you'll see atleast a bit of it as you go along), but it did also incorporate a lot of other shit that got glossed over pretty badly in the manga which lead to lack of appropriate tension building moments and a bit of a problem with structuring in general. (movies a nonissue))

However i am still happy with kai, they've kept in some anime and left a lot out...but for newcomers of the series like yourself, feel free to enjoy it as much as you can heh...i guess it should start getting even better around the time nappa and vegeta arrive, which shouldn't be long now seeing as how they cut a lot of anime only stuff out)

PS. What are the chances of going back and watching the original Dragonball in the future?
